Since 1993, One Heartland has been creating life-changing camp experiences for youth facing social isolation, intolerance or serious health challenges. The camps provide a welcoming, bully-free environment where children, youth and young adults can feel completely accepted for who they are—often for the first time in their lives. At One Heartland, young people develop self-acceptance, life-long friendships and the courage to face the world.

Camp Lilac’s mission is to provide a safe, welcoming space for trans youth to be themselves in a positive, supportive, youth-focused environment. Trans youth often face stressful, unwelcoming, and even hostile environments in their day to day lives, and depression, anxiety, and suicide are much higher among them. Camp Lilac, a TransAction program, provides an overnight camp with all the camp trappings (boating, arts and crafts, bonfires, etc.) where trans kids can be themselves in a much needed respite from outside life.​

Camp Ten Trees (Washington)

Since its founding, Camp Ten Trees (CTT) has sought to create a socially-just, youth-empowered camp community for youth of LGBTQ+ and nontraditional families, LGBTQ+ youth, and their allies. CTT is the only program of its kind within the U.S. Pacific Northwest. They ground themselves in a social justice framework, working to acknowledge and combat ways that people with different identities, experiences, and backgrounds are unjustly divided. Camp Ten Trees strives to bring healing, support and empowerment to youth through the organized camping experience.

Project 10 (Quebec)

Since 2001, P10 has been offering a weekend summer camp to allow youth to get out of the city to connect with peers and themselves for three days. P10 has focused on offering trans/NB-inclusive recreational, sports, and arts-based activities, as well as opportunities for youth to connect to mentors, and workshops offered by youth. P10 has been returning to Base Plein Air de Bon Depart for a number of years, as their terrain allows physically disabled campers to descend into the water, ride on boats, and take nature hikes.

Trans Tipping Point (British Columbia)

The Trans Tipping Point is in its third year of providing arts-based community building, personal development, and political engagement retreats for trans, two-spirit, and non-binary youth aged 10 to 18. The retreats include extensive opportunities for the youth to work with trans, two-spirit, and non-binary mentors and are supplemented by networking between the youth that carries on throughout the year between retreats. The content, focus, and scheduling of each year’s retreats is youth-directed.

CampOUT! is a social justice summer camp for queer, trans, Two-Spirit, questioning, and allied youth ages 14-21 from across BC & the Yukon. The camp is held on Gambier Island, unceded Coast Salish territories. In affiliation with the University of British Columbia, the camp provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, build self-esteem, foster hope and resilience, and connect with resources to support health and well-being (physical, mental, social, sexual, educational, and spiritual).

Camp Aurora (Manitoba)

Camp Aurora is Manitoba’s only 2SLGBTQ+ summer camp, and has run for 11 years. Over four days, 48 campers (aged 14-19), 12 Cabin Leaders, and a team of volunteers and staff spend attend Variety’s Camp Brereton in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Camp programming includes canoe trips, swimming, recreational games, art projects, identity-affirming workshops, a talent show, and a drag show and dance. Camp activities encourage youth to connect with one another, build community, and make connections with positive role models in the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Camp fYrefly (Alberta)

Camp fYrefly is a 4-day overnight summer camp for LGBTQ2S+ youth, organized and planned in part by a diverse committee of LGBTQ2S+ youth and run through the Centre for Sexuality. Camp provides youth with an opportunity to learn about themselves and their identities, build skills and develop community in a safe and transformative space. Gender Generations Camp (British Colombia)

The Gender Generations Project works to empower trans, two-spirit, non-binary, and other gender diverse youth so that they can recognize their potential to be leaders in their own communities throughout British Columbia, and the rest of the world. The project fosters connections between the youth and adult mentors with shared or similar gender identities and backgrounds who can support and inspire them to live their truths in spite of adversity.
